Jake Farrell from The Screen Rot Podcast - SPECIAL LIVE EPISODE from West Hampstead Arts Club - Mystery Jets, 21
Jake's second appearance on THIS Album... was something very special. Forty episodes in and, by a country mile, that was the best one yet.
Never one to be restricted by the line of questioning, Jake and I went off on a spectacular number of tangents, covering everything from teenage money laundering and bringing back mephedrone to the fashion disaster known as"The Indie Rip".
We even managed to find a little time to discuss his actual album choice: the glorious 2008 indie rock masterpiece 21 by Mystery Jets.
Originally released in 2008, 21 remains one of the defining British indie albums of its era, packed with brilliant songwriting, infectious melodies and the unmistakable sound of the late-2000s UK indie scene. It was an absolute pleasure to revisit the record and explore what makes it so special.
This episode was recorded live at the stunning West Hampstead Arts Club, and a huge shout-out goes to everyone who came along to support the latest THIS Album... live podcast.
I genuinely can't tell you how much it means to have people spend their hard-earned money, leave the house and come out to support the culture. Thank you.
And we're doing it all again! Pencil 12th December into your diary for the next THIS Album... live show.
Finally, if you haven't listened to Jake's brilliant podcast, Screen Rot, yet, then sort your fucking life out and get involved.
Another brilliant episode of THIS Album... featuring Mystery Jets, British indie rock, questionable life choices and the sort of conversation that could only happen when you put two people in a room with a microphone.
Enjoy!
