Episode 105 - Nickleback - Metallica, The Black Album

For episode 105 of “THIS Album…” with William Hann, I’m joined by Mike Kroeger, bassist and founding member of one of the biggest rock bands of all time: Nickelback!

With billions of streams, millions of albums sold and a career packed with huge riffs and global hits, Mike has been part of something pretty extraordinary.

His is a CV you just can't argue with....

10 billion global streams

4.5 billion+ YouTube channel views

60 million albums sold worldwide

28.6 million+ monthly Spotify listeners

24 million + followers across social media

24.4 million+ Shazams across Nickelback’s music catalogue

Seven UK Top 10 albums, including a number one and four Top 5 albums

Nine UK Top 40 singles

A huge collection of UK BPI certifications across singles and albums

Officially inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2023

Nickelback’s record-breaking 2024 Get Rollin’ World Tour was the fastest-selling and highest-attended tour of the band’s career, including a sold-out show at London’s The O2 — a venue they’ve headlined seven times.

And somehow, Mike gave up his time to come and sit on my sofa to discuss Nickelback’s new album, Everything Under the Sun and his emotional attachment to Metallica's grouund breaking Black Album

Everything Under The Sun is released on 30 October via Virgin Music Group. It’s the most ambitious and expansive album of their illustrious career — and it’s officially "THIS Album..." approved.

But this episode goes well beyond album promotion and ’90s metal nostalgia. Mike and I also talk martial arts, massive guitar riffs, Nickelback’s incredible career and the question of why the band have never played Glastonbury.

Join me, William Hann, for episode 105 of THIS Album… wherever you find your podcasts.
